The electric Porsche Macan will have more than 600 horsepower

The main competitors of the battery Macan will be Jaguar I-Pace and Maserati Grecale Folgore.

Porsche plans to launch an all-electric Macan in 2024. It is already known that the basis of the electric crossover will be the PPE (Premium Platform Electric) platform, and now there is information about the power plant.

According to Autocar, the Macan EV will share components and units with the Taycan – two electric motors will be installed on the front and rear axles, and in total they will produce 612 horsepower and 1000 Nm of torque. Moreover, one of the electric motors is moved as far back as possible for better entertainment – the weight will be distributed in a ratio of 48:52 against 49:51 in the Taycan.

The development of the all-electric Porsche Macan is being prepared very carefully. The premiere of the model already had to be postponed from 2023 to 2024 due to difficulties with the software code. The company is betting big on the new product, saying it will be ‘the sportiest car in its class.’ Jaguar I-Pace and Maserati Grecale Folgore are expected to compete in the future of the Macan EV.

The electric Macan promises wheels with wide tires for better road grip, new shock absorbers and an adaptive Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) suspension. There will be only one battery, its capacity will be 100 kilowatt-hours: the crossover will be able to travel more than 500 kilometers on one charge.

By the middle of this decade, half of all Porsche models will be electrified, and by 2030, the share of electric vehicles in the model line should reach 80 percent. The 911 family will be the last to lose gasoline engines.

At the same time, Porsche intends to extend the life cycle of traditional models as much as possible. The automaker is investing tens of millions of dollars in synthetic fuel – carbon-neutral methanol and gasoline will be used in racing cars and at Porsche Experience events.
