The ex-NATO commander called the Crimean bridge a ‘legitimate target’ for the Armed Forces
The former commander of the US and NATO forces in Europe, General Philip Breedlove, said that the Crimean bridge is a ‘legitimate target’ for Ukraine, and the Armed Forces could hit it with the recently deployed Harpoon missiles. He said this in a comment to The Times.
Breedlove, who was the supreme commander of US allies in Europe from 2013 to 2016, said an attack on the bridge would have been justified by Russian aggression against Ukraine from all sides.
‘The Kerch bridge is a legitimate target,’ he said.
For the strike, according to the general, it is possible to use Harpoon missiles, which are capable of delivering a devastating blow to the bridge connecting the Kerch Strait and the mainland of the Russian Federation. The general supported such an attack when Russia carried out airstrikes on Kramatorsk.
On April 21, Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security Council, said that the Armed Forces would strike the Crimean Bridge, which Russia uses to bring in reinforcements, ‘as soon as the opportunity arises.’
