Germany no longer depends on the energy resources of the occupier of the Russian Federation.
This was stated by the Minister of Finance of Germany, Christian Lindner, quoted by the BBC.
“Of course, Germany still depends on energy imports, but today not on imports from Russia, but on world markets,” he explained.
It is specified that previously Germany imported from Russia about half of the natural gas needed for Germany’s needs, as well as more than a third of oil.
‘Russia stopped supplying gas to the country in August (2022), and Germany stopped importing Russian oil at the beginning of (this) year,’ the report said.
As a result, Germany has restarted coal-fired power plants and postponed plans to close three nuclear power plants. In addition, work was carried out to increase the capacity to store natural gas imported from other countries, such as Norway and the United States.
