The flagship of the US Sixth Fleet sails to the coast of Israel

The Pentagon announced that it has sent the flagship of the US Sixth Fleet, the USS Mount Whitney, to the coast of Israel.

The Sixth Fleet’s press service reports that the command ship USS Mount Whitney left its permanent home base in Gaeta, Italy, on October 18 to support US operations in the eastern Mediterranean.

The ship is aimed at strengthening the US naval grouping, which is already deployed off the coast of Israel as a sign of support for the IDF’s actions against Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip.

On October 10, the carrier strike group of the USS Gerald R. Ford, consisting of the missile cruiser Normandy, Hudson, Hudson, Rage, Rothampton, and Rothwell, approached the Israeli coast. Ford, which includes the missile cruiser Normandy, destroyers Thomas Hudner, Ramage, Carney and Roosevelt.

A strike group led by the aircraft carrier Dwight Eisenhower has also been sent to the eastern Mediterranean.

In addition, the United States announced the strengthening of its aviation groups in the Middle East (including F-15, F-16 and A-10 fighters) and the deployment of 2,000 marines from the Rapid Reaction Force to Israel.

As a result of the Hamas terrorist attack on Israel, more than 30 U.S. citizens were killed, according to official figures. According to preliminary reports, several Americans have been captured and taken to the Gaza Strip as hostages.

During the invasion of southern Israel by Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip on October 7, more than 1,400 people were killed, and 150 to 200 people, including infants, children, women, and the elderly, were captured and taken hostage in Gaza.
