Caihong is a family of Chinese reconnaissance and strike drones consisting of various models. One of which is the Caihong-5, also known as CH-5. Iraq has recently purchased a batch of such UAVs for its needs.
We first learned about CH-5 7 years ago. It was officially presented at Airshow China 2016. In the summer of 2015, the unmanned aerial vehicle made its debut open tests. It made a flight of 20 minutes.
The maximum takeoff weight of the Chinese drone is 3300 kg, of which 1000 kg is for weapons. The drone can carry bombs and missiles. In particular, AR-1 and AR-2 with a range of 8 km.
The range is 10,000 km. The Chinese Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics, which is the developer of the drone, wanted to double its range. The CH-5 can fly for 60 hours, which is about four times longer than the US MQ-9 Reaper drone (14 hours).
