“The Iron Dome will be integrated into the US missile defense system
Israel plans to integrate the Iron Dome into the US missile defense system. This was reported to Defense News by sources in Washington.
The material they published suggests that the Israeli and American militaries are taking joint steps to integrate two Iron Dome batteries into the missile defense system. This will allow the Israeli equipment to be removed from the status of a one-time filler for gaps in missile defense.
Four years ago, the Pentagon purchased two batteries of the Israeli air defense system. The initiative was aimed at closing the gap in the missile defense system. The US government is interested in developing a national missile defense system. The Pentagon leadership has informed Israeli defense manufacturers that the United States will no longer purchase Iron Dome-like systems. This is because the Israeli government is unwilling to transfer the program code and some of the technologies needed to integrate them into the missile defense system.
At the end of May, Moshe Patel of the Israeli Missile Defense Organization said that all issues related to the transfer of program code and part of the technology to the United States had been resolved. The Iron Dome batteries purchased by the Pentagon will be integrated into the US missile defense system.
According to the US military, the full integration of the Iron Dome into the IBCS combat control system is not currently possible.
