In the UK, Gooding & Company sold a 1961 Jaguar E-Type at auction. The famous sports car was paid 911,250 pounds sterling ($1,147,500). This was reported on the auction house’s website.

The Jaguar E-Type is now highly valued by collectors and has risen in price significantly, but usually costs 10 times less. However, this convertible is special – it is the very first production E-Type.
This Jaguar E-Type was demonstrated at the 1961 Geneva Motor Show and later purchased by the head of the Jaguar racing team, Frank England, nicknamed Lofty. He often lent the sports car to journalists for test drives, so it can be seen on the covers of many British car magazines of the 60s.
