The Netherlands has created an electric car for $6250 that can be charged without charging (video)

Squad Solar City Car is a compact two-seater electric car weighing only 360 kg. It is capable of reaching 45 km/h and has a range of 100 km.

Dutch startup Squad Mobility presented an unusual city electric car Solar City Car at CES 2024 in Las Vegas. It will go into production in 2025 and will cost from $6,250. Details of the car were disclosed on the manufacturer’s website.

Squad Mobility was founded by engineers Chris Klock and Robert Hoovers. Previously, they worked on the Lightyear electric car with solar panels, and it was this technology that they decided to use in the Solar City Car. The city car will be an alternative to the Citroen Ami.

The electric car is a two-seater, but the passenger seat can be folded down.

The two-seater Squad Solar City Car is only 2 meters long and weighs only 360 kg. The design of the clumsy car resembles a golf cart – especially if you remove the doors (they unscrew easily).

The interior of the Squad Solar City Car is quite spacious thanks to the high roof. There is a small luggage compartment behind the seats.

Solar panels are installed on the roof.

Electric motor with a capacity of 5.5 kc. p (4 kW) makes it possible to reach speeds of up to 45 km/h. In a number of European countries, such a low-powered car can be driven without a license from the age of 16.

Squad Solar City Car is equipped with four removable batteries (like electric bikes) with a total capacity of 6.4 kWh. The range is 100 km.

Solar panels with a capacity of 250 W are installed on the roof of the electric car. Tests have shown that in one day, they replenish the range by 22 km in the Netherlands and 31 km in sunny Spain. This may well be enough to avoid charging an electric car.
