The draft law No. 10335 submitted to the Verkhovna Rada envisages a 20-fold increase in liability for ignoring the rules of parking for trucks (up to ₴6800 from the current ₴340).
The authors of the document initiated the transfer of powers to draw up “parking” protocols to the National Police, with further transfer to the court for a decision on imposing a fine or exemption from it.
The developers of the document believe that increased liability will reduce the number of traffic jams and accidents due to more scrupulous compliance with traffic rules by drivers.
It should be noted that cars that block the roadway are evacuated to impound lots and returned to their owners after the fine is paid. Heavy trucks cannot be evacuated because of their heavy weight.
