The Russian ambassador refused to come to the Polish Foreign Ministry, offering instead to send a note by mail

Serhiy Andreev suggested that the Polish side send him a note by courier or mail.

Russian Ambassador to Poland Sergei Andreev did not come to the Polish Foreign Ministry, although he was summoned because a Russian missile violated Polish airspace. This was stated by Foreign Ministry spokesman Pawel Wronski at a briefing in Warsaw, Ukrinform reported on Monday, March 25.

“The Vienna Convention clearly defines the duties of the ambassador in the host country. We are interested in whether the ambassador is following the instructions of the Foreign Ministry in Moscow and whether he is able to properly represent the interests of Russia in Warsaw,” he said, commenting on Andreev’s demarche.

Vronsky assured that Poland would now send a diplomatic note to the Russian Foreign Ministry through another channel, demanding an explanation for the Russian missile’s violation of Polish airspace.

Meanwhile, Sergei Andreev told Russian media that he refused to come to the Polish Foreign Ministry because “there is no evidence that it was a Russian missile.” He added that he suggested that the Polish side send him a note by courier or mail.

As a reminder, on March 24, a Russian missile violated Polish airspace near the town of Osierdów in the Lubelskie Voivodeship and stayed there for 39 seconds.

Later, Polish Minister of National Defense Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysh said that the military would have shot down the Russian missile if they were sure that it was headed for a target in the country. And the Polish Armed Forces said they did not shoot down the missile in order not to pose a risk to the local population.
