The Russian occupiers showed how they use the T-62 tank as artillery

The Russians showed how they use old T-62 tanks as improvised self-propelled artillery systems on the front line.

The video was published by Russian propaganda media.

Due to the constant knockout of classical artillery and the shortage of ammunition for it, the Russians began using restored T-62 tanks as improvised self-propelled guns at the beginning of the year.

The target range of Soviet T-62 tanks is about a thousand meters, but when firing from closed positions in a high parabola, this distance can reach six kilometers.

Firing from closed positions was envisioned by the designers of these tanks, so they are supplied from the factory with a side level and an azimuthal pointer to help with gun aiming.

However, even with this equipment, the accuracy of the shot leaves much to be desired, so a reconnaissance drone is paired with the tank to adjust the fire.

Russian DJI Mavic 3 drone operator detects a miss and corrects the tank crew.

The video shows that despite undergoing major repairs at a tank repair plant, the Russian T-62 was left without proper communications equipment.

The gunner of the combat vehicle has to communicate with the UAV operator via a household radio and a smartphone messenger.

It is also worth noting that the standard extraction mechanism in the aft part of the turret does not work, so the loader leaves the spent shell casings on the floor. This, in turn, fills the combat compartment with smoke and worsens working conditions.

Judging by the surrounding situation, the Russian tank is firing from a dilapidated residential building in the middle of the settlement.

Presumably, the occupants are shooting from the house for minimal camouflage and because of the threat of Ukrainian FPV strike drones.
