The Security Service of Ukraine targeted the Russian heavy flamethrower system “Solntsepek” with HIMARS, which resulted in the destruction of the “pride” of the Russian military-industrial complex along with the crew and ammunition.
During the reconnaissance, officers of the Zaporizhzhia SBU Department recorded the position of the Russian Solntsepek, which was intended to strike at the positions of the Ukrainian military, which were conducting a counteroffensive in this area.
“However, thanks to the coordination of the Security Service and the Armed Forces artillery, the TOS-1A Solntsepek was destroyed along with its crew and full ammunition. And in the final battle with the HIMARS missile, the enemy’s Solntsepek celebrated its defeat with a magnificent fireworks display,” the SBU said in a statement.
REFERENCE. TOS-1A “Solntsepek” is a legend of Russian propaganda. It fires thermobaric ammunition, with 24 shells in a salvo, which can cover an area of 200×200 meters. The Ukrainian military also has several such systems in service, acquired during the battles against the Russians.
