The survey showed that Ukrainians are the least afraid of a nuclear strike among all countries in the world
The European countries of Italy, Portugal and Romania are the most afraid of the nuclear threat, according to an international survey of people in 41 countries.
Ukraine is among the countries with the lowest level of public fear of nuclear threat. This wasreported by the Rating sociological group, which conducted a public opinion poll in our country commissioned by the Gallup International research institute.
As noted after the results were summarized, two-fifths of all respondents see a high risk of nuclear weapons use. Almost the same proportion of respondents assessed the risk as moderate, and only 14% saw no risk.
In European countries, fewer respondents assessed the threat of nuclear weapons use as high than in Asia, Africa, and South America. There, assessments of the possible use of the nuclear threat are more pessimistic.
Among European countries, the greatest fear of the nuclear threat is in Italy, Portugal, and Romania, where more than half of the respondents rated the threat as high. Indonesia, Nigeria, Ecuador, Syria, and Argentina also have the highest nuclear threat assessment rates.
In contrast, residents of Ukraine, Iran, Pakistan, and Armenia are most confident that such a risk does not exist.
It is worth noting that the younger the respondent, the more pessimistic he or she is about the nuclear threat.
The international survey was conducted in October-December 2023 in 41 countries, with 40,428 people interviewed. About a thousand citizens were interviewed in each country.
As a reminder, military experts believe that 50% of Russia’s nuclear missiles have already expired.
