Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already taken at least 2,311 units of samples of Russian weapons and military equipment as trophies, of which 468 are tanks. The fate of one of them is told in the publication ArmiyaInform.
We are talking about the Russian T-72B3, which arrived in Ukraine at the end of February to take Kyiv in three days, but in the end it became a trophy of our defenders, who repaired it, ‘changed their shoes’ and have been beating the Russian occupation army with it for more than six months.
Today, the trophy T-72B3 is fighting in the east of Ukraine, while the crew of this machine is sure that they will take part in the parade in honor of the Victory of Ukraine.
In general, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the Russian Federation has lost quite a few such tanks, including 209 T-72B3s of the 2011 model, three T-72B3s of the 2014 model (the so-called ‘biathlon’ tanks) and 175 T-72B3s of the 2016 model.
The T-72B3 modification was developed as a ‘massive and cheaper’ alternative to the T-90A tank and was supposed to serve to equip the Russian army with the latest T-14 ‘Armata’ tank, which the Russian Federation recently put to new tests.
At the same time, regarding what the real combat capabilities of the T-72B3 are, it is worth mentioning here the devastating review by the tank gunner of the Armed Forces of Ukraine of this trophy machine, according to the results of which it can be called a real ‘freak of Russian tank construction’.
In particular, the only advantage of the well-known ‘Sosna-U’ sight is the 12-multiplicity, while if, for example, in the T-64BV the gunner can work with it ‘jewelry’ and move the gun smoothly, then in the T-72B3 the system is extremely inert and does not have smooth movement .
