The Tu-95MS and Tu-160 painted by Russians at the Engels airfield are covered with snow

OSINT analyst MT_Anderson has made publicly available a satellite image of the Russian strategic aviation airfield Engels-2, taken as of 8.14 am on March 20, 2024. The researcher himself noted in his original post that this image does not show any traces of “cotton” that was delivered there by Ukrainian kamikaze drones on the night of March 20, but then he noted the following.

This satellite image has a rather low resolution. Because of this, the only thing you can really distinguish on it is that there were five Tu-95MS strategic bombers and three Tu-160s at the Engels-2 airfield at the time, but you can’t see if there was any activity around them.

All three Tu-160s and two Tu-95MS are covered with tires, which suggests that these aircraft could be technically defective, or it was a specific “protection” of these aircraft in case of a strike by the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

At this time, we do not know what exactly could have been the target of the Ukrainian kamikaze drones’ attack on Engels; the image shows only the aircraft parking lot. Therefore, it may be worth waiting for additional materials to qualify the results of the March 20 “cotton”.

At the same time, another specific moment can be discerned in this picture. It turns out that the Russian military drew as many as five fake “bombers” at this airport – four silhouettes of Tu-95MS and one silhouette of Tu-160, which were evenly “scattered” in different parking lots of real aircraft.

At first glance, the racist “artists” did their best to make these “airplanes” look more or less realistic, at least in low-resolution images. To make it more “realistic”, they even painted “tires” in a top view.

But the problem is that this “creativity” of the Russians was simply covered with snow. Therefore, regardless of what the enemy’s military was aiming for, their plan did not work due to climatic conditions.
