The Ukrainian Armed Forces ‘landed’ a rare Russian Supercam UAV

On January 25th, luck smiled on the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the day, they shot down four Orlan-10 reconnaissance drones, as well as one rare Supercam drone. A message about this appeared on the Facebook account of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

‘Orlan-10’ in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is the most massive device. Ukrainian servicemen shoot down such drones quite often. As for the Supercam UAV, the occupiers use this model extremely rarely. Only two cases of the use of Supercam drones in Ukraine are known.

Supercam drones are produced by the company ‘Unmanned systems’. Its product line consists of 11 models of aircraft. All of them are intended for civilian use. The model of the aircraft shot down by Ukrainian servicemen was not specified in the notification of the General Staff.

It is known that the most compact model is the Supercam S100. It has a wingspan of one meter. The drone can stay in the sky for one hour. Its radius of action is 50 km. At the same time, the image from the Supercam S100 camera can transmit only 20 km.

The largest UAV model in the Unmanned Systems product line is the Supercam SX300H with a three-meter wingspan. The declared autonomy of this device is 3.2 hours. The flight range of the drone can reach 260 km. At the same time, it is able to maintain communication with the operator only at a distance of 100 km.

Supercam drones are not military grade. They are designed for conducting aerial photography, air monitoring and air patrolling. Due to the shortage of UAVs, the occupiers use Supercam drones for reconnaissance.
