The Ukrainians presented a reconnaissance drone that flies 50 km behind enemy lines

What is known about the Domaha drone

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have already received a lot of equipment and weapons from the Allies, but the national defense industry is also working. Experts from Zaporizhzhia presented the new reconnaissance drone ‘Domaha’.

Domakha is an ancient Cossack saber made of Damascus steel, so it is not surprising that this is what the engineers named the new drone. Work on it began back in 2014. Radio engineers, programmers and specialists in aircraft modeling joined the project of creating a company-tactical complex.

‘Domaha’ consists of two drones at once, that is, if one of them is destroyed, the other will continue to work. The total weight of the complex does not exceed five kilograms, and it can be prepared for takeoff in just twenty minutes. Thanks to the batteries, ‘Domaha’ is almost inaudible. This is an important characteristic for a reconnaissance drone. The developers also believe that in the future it will be possible to turn it into an attack drone.

Battery charge is enough for 2-2.5 hours of flight. The drone rises to a height of up to 3 km and can operate behind enemy lines at a distance of up to 50 km. Due to its compact size, it is almost impossible to notice.

The Domaha drone can conduct reconnaissance, that is, inspect enemy positions, as well as adjust artillery fire. The installations that are in service with the Ukrainian army hit targets at a distance of up to 40 km. The drone can capture the moment of arrival of the first projectile so that the gunners can more accurately aim the rest.

Unlike most reconnaissance copters, Domaha is more functional. It is not so much affected by the wind, it can also fly in the rain. Another important advantage is that it is difficult for the enemy to jam the radio communication channels, since this drone is not digital. You can also bring it ‘home’ in manual mode.

This ‘bird’ is currently undergoing certification and will be able to work in positions at the beginning of next year. Although the development of ‘Domaha’ lasted more than one year, you can assemble such a drone in 2-3 weeks.

We will remind you that we have already talked about a student who created a minesweeper drone and won a prestigious competition. The military recently announced a drone that attacks the enemy with balls. Another UAV can not only conduct reconnaissance, but also shoot down ‘Shakhed’ and ‘Orlans’. And the compact Fowler will catch civilian copters that the enemy uses to gather intelligence.
