The United States approves the delivery of F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets from the Netherlands and Denmark to Ukraine

Ukraine is close to receiving the fourth generation of American F-16 Fighting Falcon fighter jets. At least two countries will be able to send the aircraft after the pilots’ training is completed.

The Reuters news agency reports that the United States has authorized the Netherlands and Denmark to provide the Ukrainian Air Force with their F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft. Deliveries of the fourth-generation fighter jets will begin after Ukrainian pilots complete the training program.

The United States officially assured Denmark and the Netherlands that Washington would expedite the approval of all third-party requests for the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine. Antony Blinken sent letters to his colleagues in Copenhagen and Amsterdam saying that all requests would be approved.

The Secretary of State emphasized the importance of Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against ongoing Russian aggression and violations of its sovereignty. He stated that the approval of third-party requests will allow Ukraine to take full advantage of the new capabilities as soon as the first group of pilots completes their training.
