The United States deployed the aircraft carrier Dwight Eisenhower to the Red Sea to pacify the Houthis

The US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Dwight Eisenhower enters the Red Sea. The US command took this step to calm down the Yemeni Houthis, who began attacking civilian vessels.

The U.S. Naval Institute reported on the overturning of the American ship.

“The carrier strike group led by the USS Dwight Eisenhower is off the coast of Yemen,” the statement said.

Before that, the US had appealed to the Houthis to stop attacking military and commercial vessels in the Red Sea. Yemeni terrorists were warned of the consequences of such attacks. In addition, British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps announced his readiness to take direct action in connection with Houthi attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea.

Earlier, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced the launch of the Prosperity Guardian operation against the Houthis. The main goal of the operation is to ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea, where the problem of seafarers’ protection and compliance with international law has become more acute. The US Department of Defense said in a statement that the free flow of trade is threatened by the recent escalation of Houthi attacks from Yemen.

In October, the US aircraft carrier Dwight Eisenhower was performing missions in the Mediterranean Sea after the situation in the Middle East escalated with the outbreak of the war between Israel and Hamas.

The Dwight Eisenhower was previously involved in combat operations during the Gulf War in the 1990s, and later provided support for US military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The carrier is now the flagship of the US Navy’s Carrier Strike Group 2.
