The US Army will conduct a massive purchase of UAV interceptors due to drone activity
The US Army will purchase 600 Coyote 2C drone interceptors from Raytheon at a price of $125 thousand. per unit. The contract is worth $75 million.
The agreement was prompted by a series of drone attacks on U.S. bases in the Middle East. Several thousand such interceptors are planned to be purchased in the coming years.
The Coyote 2C is a mass-produced, relatively inexpensive and effective means of countering enemy drones. The interceptor with optoelectronic target detection devices, KuMRFS radars and FAAD C2 control system has a range of up to 15 kilometers.
Earlier it was planned that the Coyote 2C deal would start in 2025, but the US Army accelerated the procurement process for counter-drone equipment. This demonstrates the need for a rapid response to the threat posed by enemy UAVs.
