The USA deprived Russia of the status of a country with a market economy

Now the state can apply anti-dumping duties on Russian imports

The USA deprived Russia of the status of a country with a market economy. This is stated on the website of the Office of International Trade of the US Department of Commerce. The corresponding decision was made by the US Ministry of Commerce. It allows the use of anti-dumping legislation on Russian imports, including the imposition of an additional duty.

The status of the aggressor was taken away due to the intervention of the Russian government in the economy and the artificial distortion of commodity prices. At the same time, this situation ‘may negatively affect American industry when trying to compete with Russian goods.’

Now the ministry will use an alternative methodology for calculating anti-dumping duties on imports from the Russian Federation. For this, the agency will use market prices and costs from countries with the same level of economic development that produce the same product.
