The use of Ukrainian Leopard 2A6 on the battlefield in Zaporizhzhia was shown online (video)

Ukrainian soldiers are already using German vehicles on the battlefield against the Russian occupiers.

The Ukrainian military demonstrated the use of a Ukrainian Leopard 2A6 tank in the Zaporizhzhia sector.

On one of the frontlines, the Ukrainian military is using German Leopard 2A6 tanks, one of the latest modernizations of Rheinmetall’s products. The recorded footage shows the vehicle firing on the move and releasing a smoke screen in front of it.

It is worth noting that the Leopard 2A6 has excellent stabilization, so firing at low speed is not a problem for the German vehicle. It is known that the Ukrainian army has received about 18 tanks in the Leopard 2A6 modification, as well as dozens of older Leopard 2A4s. The difference between them is not only in the armor, but also in the optics and the gun. The 2A6 has a 55-caliber barrel, and the 2A4 has a 52-caliber barrel. This means better muzzle velocity and armor penetration.

The director of the Come Back Alive Foundation added on Twitter that Leopard 2A6s have already shown up in combat.

“It’s like “heaven and earth” with the same T-64/72 from the late 80s. And the armor is up to par,” Chmut wrote.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has called on Germany to supply more Leopard 2 tanks. According to Andriy Melnyk, Berlin could have tripled the number of cars delivered.

On June 8, Ukraine deployed Leopard 2 tanks on the battlefield for the first time, German media reported.
