This year, another checkpoint will appear on the Ukrainian-Polish border

It is expected that the new crossing point “Nižankovychy – Malhovice” will allow the movement of cars and trucks with a total weight of up to 3.5 tons.

This year, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland plans to open a new checkpoint in Nyzhankovychy-Malchovice on the Ukrainian-Polish border. Previously, it was planned to open by 2024. This was reported by the Polish news portal nowiny24.pl.

“This year, we want to quickly launch an additional Malhovice-Nižankovychy border crossing point. It was supposed to be put into operation in 2024, but we are working to be able to conduct border checks there this year,” said the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure of Poland, Rafal Weber.

He noted that active construction work is currently underway to deliver it earlier than the planned deadline. It is planned to create a special detour to allow cars to pass.

“The construction company that is carrying out the works will have to complete this investment next year, but we are working on creating a special detour, that is, a temporary border crossing, along with checkpoints, and we will start border control,” he said.

We will remind you that the checkpoint “Nyzhankovychi – Malhovice” was planned to be opened by 2024. It provides for joint control of Ukrainian and Polish customs and border guards, as at the Hrushiv checkpoint, and the construction cost is 109 million zlotys, which is paid by the Polish side.

Also, in November 2021, the repair of the 12-kilometer section of the road leading to the future Nižankovychy-Malhovice checkpoint was completed. Work on it began in 2018.

We would like to add that the construction of five new checkpoints in the territory of Lviv region was included in the plan of measures of the Cabinet of Ministers for the arrangement of priority checkpoints for 2021-2023. We are talking about points Lopushanka, Varyaz, Belz, Mshanets and Boberka. The works are planned to be carried out at state expense, and other sources of funding will also be involved.

It should be noted that at checkpoints in the Lviv region, they plan to introduce a paid e-queue and equip temporary parking areas for trucks.
