Turkey’s newest drone Anka-3 takes to the air for the first time (video)
The first flight of the latest Anka-3 drone from Turkish Aerospace Industries took place in Turkey.
This was reported by the SavunmaSanayiST.
It is noted that the flight lasted 1 hour and 10 minutes, the drone was accompanied by a HÜRKUŞ combat training aircraft and another Anka family drone.
Anka-3 reached an altitude of almost 2.5 kilometers and a speed of almost 277 kilometers per hour.
The Anka-3 project is designed to bring the capabilities of the Turkish defense industry to a new level.
The unmanned vehicle will be equipped with a turbofan jet engine and will have a maximum takeoff weight of about 6.5 tons.
The maximum payload, according to the developers, is 1.2 tons. The operating altitude of the drone does not exceed 12 kilometers, and the maximum altitude is 13 kilometers.
The developers have not disclosed the flight range and time in the air. The drone’s weapons, which are likely to be missile and bomb, remain a mystery.
The drone is designed as a “flying wing” and has no tail feathers, which, in conjunction with the use of stealth technologies, will further reduce radar visibility.
Judging by the publicly available characteristics of the Anka-3 and the use of similar combat vehicles, one of the main strike missions of the promising Turkish drone will be to attack targets in the enemy’s deep rear and destroy or suppress its air defense.
Anka III, our unmanned fighter jet developed by TAI, successfully made its first flight today. Hopefully, our aircraft will make a very strong contribution to the defense of our country with its advanced technologies, design and features. 🇹🇷 pic.twitter.com/ElZaSoNRVo
