U.S. gives Ukraine sensors to detect use of nuclear weapons – NYT
The United States has provided Ukraine with sensors for detecting radiation emissions from the use of nuclear weapons.
This was reported by The New York Times.
According to the report, a network of nuclear sensors is being deployed “throughout the region” and will make it possible to “characterize the size, location and consequences of any nuclear explosion.”
In addition, the extensive system of sensors will deprive Russia of the ability to “anonymously” use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
It is noted that in the event of an emergency in Ukraine due to a nuclear explosion, the analysis will be quickly delivered to US government agencies to take emergency measures to protect the population.
“The deployment of the nuclear weapons detection system shows that the United States does not consider such a scenario impossible,” the statement said.
