On the night of May 4, the Ilya oil refinery in the Krasnodar Territory was attacked by four drones, causing a fire to break out at the plant. This was reported by the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory, Veniamin Kondratiev.
“The second turbulent night for our emergency services. A fire has been confirmed at the Ilya oil refinery in the Seversky district. Fire brigades and the Emergencies Ministry’s staff of 48 people and 16 pieces of equipment are already working,” Kondratiev said.
According to the governor, three explosions occurred on the territory of the plant, one of the drones did not explode. The governor also said that there were no casualties as a result of the incident and that the population of the village is not in danger. The fire has now been extinguished.
The UAV attack on the Ilyich Oil Refinery lasted almost an hour. As a result of the attack, 1 fuel tank was destroyed and a second one filled with 85% diesel fuel caught fire.
According to the Russian Telegram channel BAZA, the volume of the tanks affected by the drone attack was 5000 cubic meters.
“According to preliminary data, 4 drones took part in the attack. The first of them fell on the territory around 2 am. Its wreckage was found by the plant’s security staff and while they were inspecting it, other drones began to arrive. In total, the drone attack lasted almost an hour, from two to three in the morning,” local journalists reported.
As a reminder, on the night of May 3, two unidentified drones attacked the Kremlin’s Senate Palace, after which the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a criminal case under the article on a terrorist act.
Last night, on May 3, a drone attack caused a fire at the Novoshakhtynsky oil refinery in the neighboring Rostov region. The attacked refinery near Rostov belonged to Viktor Medvedchuk’s wife.
