Ukraine and Poland hold another round of talks on border blockade

A Ukrainian delegation headed by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal arrived in Poland for government consultations, as Shmyhal himself reported on his Telegram channel. The meeting was held under the auspices of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The main topics of the dialogue were the issue of weapons for Ukraine, the situation on the border between the two countries, and the development of trade and infrastructure.

During the talks that followed the meeting, Shmyhal emphasized the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Poland and discussed a number of important issues, including complex topics such as the situation on the border and trade in the agricultural sector. Ukraine is awaiting responses from Poland on the proposed steps, most of which have already been implemented by the Ukrainian side.

At the same time, the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border remains tense due to protests by Polish farmers demanding a ban on imports and transit of Ukrainian goods from Ukraine to Europe. The protests, which began on February 9, were officially sanctioned by the local authorities until March 9, but continue to this day. Many media outlets reported that these protests are funded by the Kremlin and are aimed mainly at blocking Ukrainian goods in order to hurt the country’s economy, which is already suffering from Russia’s attack. In response to the border blockade, Ukrainian carriers organized their own peaceful protest.

The efforts of both countries are aimed at finding compromises and resolving problematic issues. The Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that strategic relations between the two countries involve mutual trust and the ability to engage in dialogue. Zelenskyy also spoke about the situation at the border, emphasizing its seriousness, which went beyond economic and moral issues.
