Ukraine daily relocates bombers from Storm Shadow to protect against Russia – Bild

To protect the few Su-24 bombers that carry the long-range Storm Shadow and Scalp cruise missiles, the Ukrainian Air Force moves these aircraft to a new airfield every 24 hours.

Ukraine restores Soviet airfields to protect aircraft

The long-range Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles must be fired from the few bombers Ukraine has.

Ukraine’s Air Force has converted a dozen Soviet Su-24s to launch missiles into the air and from there to their targets. This is a vulnerability that Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to exploit.

Because of this, the Russians have been attacking air force bases in western Ukraine for weeks, where they suspect Su-24s are stationed, firing one or more cruise missiles at Russian targets every day.

Despite constant attacks on the airfield in Starokonstantinov, Khmelnytsky region, Russia is failing as Storm Shadow and Scalp continue to hit occupation targets in eastern and southern Ukraine.

The newspaper writes that Ukraine protects its fighter jets with valuable missiles by moving the planes to another air force base every 24 hours.

To do so, it has restored all Soviet-era air bases and is using new secret runways on highways that have been converted into airstrips. The new video footage shows that the Ukrainian army used several Patriot and Iris-T anti-aircraft systems to protect the respective airfields.

What is known about the effectiveness of Storm Shadow and Scalp

The publication writes that the British Storm Shadow and French Scalp cruise missiles with a range of 300 km are not only the longest-range precision weapons in the Ukrainian army, but also the most powerful – the missiles have 450 kg of explosives.

These missiles hit targets in all occupied territories with an accuracy of several meters and cause huge destruction, whether it is the deployment of Russian generals in Berdiansk, weapons factories in Luhansk, or bridges to Crimea.

Dozens of high-ranking Russian officers, major logistics hubs, and critical supply routes have already fallen victim to cruise missiles. According to BILD, Russia does not have the means to intercept well-camouflaged and low-flying missiles,” the publication writes.
