Ukraine has changed the rules of car inspection: when will the revolutionary innovation start working?

Ukraine will introduce video recording of the process of registration and technical inspection of vehicles. The introduction of the innovation is scheduled to begin six months after the end or lifting of martial law.

It is reported that these changes were introduced in accordance with CMU Resolution No. 514, which entered into force on August 25, 2023. Video recording will prevent any attempts to falsify the results of the inspection or falsify the inspection report.

The changes also include the introduction of electronic protocols. These digital documents contain comprehensive information about the inspection, including the date, time, and results of the inspection. By digitizing these protocols, the process of obtaining the necessary documents will become more convenient and significantly reduce the use of physical paper documents.

It is reported that these records, photos and videos of the vehicle inspection procedure will be stored at the technical control points for the entire duration of the mandatory technical control protocol.

Mandatory technical inspection includes checking critical vehicle components, such as:

  • brake and steering systems,
  • external lighting devices,
  • pneumatic tires and wheels,
  • light transmission of glass,
  • as well as gas cylinder equipment, if used,
  • LPG gas time

In addition, during this comprehensive inspection, the identification numbers and license plates of the vehicle will be cross-checked with the data in the registration documents, and the completeness of the vehicle will be assessed.
