Ukraine has passed the test for the use of HIMARS and wants more long-range weapons – the Minister of Defense

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, gave an interview to the Wall Street Journal, in which he talked about the use of HIMARS and the lack of Western weapons.

According to Reznikov, Ukraine has passed a test on the use of the American HIMARS rocket launcher systems. The Armed Forces managed to convince their Western partners that they could use HIMARS to accurately hit enemy targets. After the destruction of Russia’s air operations command center late last month, the partners said Ukraine had passed the test.

However, the Armed Forces need an urgent supply of Western weapons in large quantities. In particular, in long-range vehicles. The minister noted that the Russians use rocket salvo systems that hit at a distance of up to 120 km. That is why Ukraine requires MLRS capable of firing at a range of 150 km.

As for HIMARS, on July 8, US President Joe Biden approved the transfer of four MLRS. Thus, the total number of American jet systems will decrease to 12 units. In addition, the M270 MLRS and its European counterpart in the form of MARS II will soon arrive in Ukraine.
