Ukraine may still receive German TAURUS cruise missiles with a range of up to 500 km
We have repeatedly written that Ukraine has asked Germany to transfer TAURUS cruise missiles, but the German government has refused to do so. However, the Ukrainian Armed Forces may still receive such missiles.
The information was shared by Yegor Chernev, a member of the Verkhovna Rada delegation to the NATO Assembly. He said that he had received information from his German colleagues about the agreement of key parliamentary factions of the Bundestag to transfer long-range TAURUS missiles to Ukraine. According to Yegor, Ukraine has been working with German parliamentarians for a long time to form a support group, and it has finally been done. Now we just have to wait for the official decision.
TAURUS is a Swedish-German air-to-ground cruise missile. It is an analog of the French-British Storm Shadow/SCALPEG missile.
TAURUS is designed for high-precision strikes and engagement of highly protected targets at distances up to 500 km. The missile is manufactured by Taurus Systems GmbH (a joint venture between MBDA Deutschland and Saab Bofors Dynamics AB). The approximate cost of one missile is $1,000,000.
