Ukraine to receive 14 more Leopard 2 tanks – media

According to the German newspaper Handelsblatt, Ukraine will receive 14 more Leopard 2 battle tanks from Western partners with funding from Denmark and the Netherlands.

This was reported by Censor.NET with reference to the Voice of America.

The contracts for the new supplies have already been signed, and the German government was involved in the negotiations, as it has to approve the export of military equipment. The tanks will be supplied and repaired by Rheinmetall Group and are expected to arrive in Ukraine by the end of January, Handelsblatt reports.

The day before, Deputy Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said that the US Department of Defense, when allocating military aid to Ukraine, anticipates possible losses of equipment.

“Here at the Pentagon, we will always anticipate that there will be damage and loss of equipment and systems that have been provided to the Ukrainians. I don’t know if there will be a one-to-one replacement (of equipment – ed.), but as you can see, today’s announcement of the 40th Presidential Assistance Package to Ukraine is a continuation of support for Ukraine in its fight against the Russians to regain its sovereign territory,” she said.
