Ukrainian Air Force from Stinger destroyed a Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone (video)
Special Operations Forces destroyed a Russian Orlan-10 reconnaissance drone with a US Stinger man-portable air defense system, the agency reports.
“The soldiers of the 8th regiment of the Special Forces showed footage of their brilliant work in Donetsk region. They destroyed a Russian Orlan-10 UAV with one accurate shot from a Stinger man-portable air defense system,” the statement said.
“The Orlan-10 is a multi-purpose unmanned aerial vehicle designed for reconnaissance operations, commissioned in 2013; in May 2022, the invaders presented its strike modification.
The cost of a single Orlan-10 can range from $87,000 to $120,000, according to the UK’s Royal United Kingdom Institute for Defense Studies.
The FIM-92 Stinger is an American man-portable air defense missile system from General Dynamics Corporation that was put into service 40 years ago.
The Stinger is used to destroy low-altitude air targets; it can also shoot at unarmored ground or surface targets, but less effectively.

- The Commander of the Joint Forces showed the moment when the Stinger destroyed a Russian cruise missile flying towards Kyiv.
- In July, a Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier shot down an Iranian-made Shahed-136 drone from a Stinger.
