Ukrainian anti-aircraft gunner destroys Russian Su-25 attack aircraft using Igla man-portable air defense system

Ukrainian defense forces shoot down another Russian aircraft. The new target was a Su-25 attack aircraft (Frogfoot according to NATO classification).

The plane was destroyed by a soldier of the 10th separate mountain assault brigade “Edelweiss” of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He used the Igla portable anti-aircraft missile system. According to Oryx, the Russian army has lost at least 25 Su-25 aircraft in 16 months.

The attack aircraft made its first flight almost 50 years ago and was commissioned in 1981. The Su-25 has a cruising speed of 750 km/h and a practical ceiling of 7 km. The aircraft can carry guided or unguided missiles and high-explosive aircraft bombs.
