Ukrainian Armed Forces make gains near Vuhledar over the past day and consolidate their positions
As of June 16, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have gained success in certain areas near Vuhledar in Donetsk region and are consolidating their positions. East of Stupochky in Donetsk region, Ukrainian troops push Russians out of their positions
Andriy Kovalev, spokesman for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said this during the telethon.
“The Ukrainian Defense Forces continued to conduct both defensive and offensive operations despite the enemy’s air and artillery superiority. Our soldiers have partial success. Where Ukrainian soldiers are defending themselves, not a single position has been lost“, he said.
The spokesman also added that Ukrainian Armed Forces units successfully conducted offensive actions in the following areas: Novodanylivka – Robotyne and Livadne – Staromayorske.
“They were successful in the area of the town of Vuhledar, and Ukrainian soldiers were successful in some areas. In the course of assault operations, they consolidate on the achieved lines. Ukrainian Armed Forces units successfully conducted offensive operations in the area east of Stupochki in Donetsk region. We pushed the Russian occupiers out of their positions“, he emphasized.
In addition, Kovalev added that the enemy is suffering losses on the battlefield: all medical facilities in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine are overcrowded, and the enemy has begun to equip civilian medical facilities close to the border with Russia as medical centers.
In particular, in the village of Cherneshka, Belgorod region, the occupiers equipped a local hospital as a military hospital, where more than 400 occupants are being treated.
Also, the commander of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel General Oleksandr Syrsky, wrote in a telegram that the situation in the area of responsibility of the Eastern Group of Forces remains tense.
“Despite the offensive of our troops in the south and the loss of territory and settlements in this direction, the enemy continues to move some of the most combat-ready units to the Bakhmut direction, combining these actions with powerful artillery fire and strikes by assault and army aviation on the positions of our troops,” the statement reads.
He added that at the same time, the Ukrainian military continue to conduct offensive actions in certain areas, occupying dominant heights and forest belts to gradually drive the enemy from the approaches to Bakhmut.
“Realizing this, the enemy units are putting up a desperate fight,” Syrsky wrote.
