Ukrainian Armed Forces show footage of combat operation of rare 2B16 Nona-K artillery system

The press service of the 92nd Brigade named after Ivan Sirko published an interesting video demonstrating the use of a rare artillery system in the Armed Forces of Ukraine – a towed 2B16 Nona-K.

In this video, soldiers from the crew of this artillery system say that they used to work as part of a mortar battery and provided fire support to our infantry.

Now they are working as part of a howitzer battery and “hunting” for groups of Rashist infantry, which can either attack our positions in small numbers or come to their positions for rotation.

According to some reports, at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia, our army had only two such artillery systems, and could have captured up to 8 more units in battles against the Russian occupiers. The last time the Nona-K was seen in the Armed Forces of Ukraine was in May of 2012.

In turn, The Military Balance 2023 indicates that the Russian army has only 85 Nona-K units left in service (although there were 100 units in 2021), and the Russian Navy’s marines have 24 Nona-K units.

The 2B16 Nona-K artillery system has a caliber of 120 mm, a weight of 1.2 tons, a crew of 5, and a maximum range of up to 12.8 kilometers.
