Ukrainian Armed Forces spotted a modernized IFV equipped with a new combat module with an automatic cannon (video)
Ukrainian defenders have a new version of the BMP, which is equipped with a combat module with a 30-mm automatic cannon.
A video of such a machine was published by a number of specialized Telegram channels. Of course, the place and time are not specified, but it is obviously relatively recent footage.
It should be noted that this particular combat module has not been seen before, although it is somewhat similar to the version of the Spear combat module installed on BMP-1TS. We would like to add that these vehicles were officially demonstrated in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine by the Command of the Airborne Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June 2022.
The BMP-1TS itself was publicly demonstrated during exhibitions and at the 2021 parade dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence in 2021.
But this version of the BMP still differs from the BMP-1TS. And the first thing that catches your eye is the absence of Barrier anti-tank missiles, but this can be explained simply by their failure to be installed during the training, which was most likely filmed. The main difference is the shape itself, with more sloping corners and a flatter rear part, as well as the placement of the Tucha smoke screen system.
This module also differs from all the others that were proposed for placement on BMPs, such as BMP-1UMD.
In other words, we are talking about a new type of armored personnel carrier equipment. In it, the btvt.info resource identified a new combat module patented by a private Ukrainian company in 2023.
According to the description, it is equipped with a 30-mm KBA-2 automatic cannon, a 7.62-mm machine gun, a 30-mm automatic grenade launcher, and two anti-tank Barriers on the sides of the turret. The module is said to be easier to maintain due to easier access, a new and more successful design of the gun mask, a new system for balancing the weapon unit and increasing the accuracy and stabilization quality by +25%.
It should be noted that the modernization of BMP-1 is more than important because the 73-mm 2A28 Grom gun with manual (only partially mechanized) loading and outdated sights does not meet the current needs on the battlefield.
