Ukrainian Armed Forces “spotted” on the left bank of Dnipro and advanced in Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions – ISW (map)
In the west of Donetsk region, the Defense Forces took up new positions along the Rivne-Staromayorske line and advanced to Pryiutne. The Ukrainian Armed Forces are also making progress near Klishchiyivka.
Ukrainian defenders conducted several reconnaissance attacks on the left bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson region, and advanced in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. This is stated in the report of the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW) for June 28.
The situation in Luhansk region
On June 28, the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the Russian Armed Forces conducted limited ground attacks south of Kreminna. Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russians conducted unsuccessful offensives near Bilohorivka (10 km south of Kreminna). On June 27, a Russian milblogger claimed that the Russian Armed Forces had successfully attacked Ukrainian positions near Kreminna. On June 28, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian forces had repelled Ukrainian attacks near Kuzmyno (3 km southwest of Kreminna), Hryhorivka (11 km south of Kreminna), and Veseloye (30 km south of Kreminna).
The situation in Donetsk region
Both sides fought around Bakhmut, and the Ukrainian Defense Forces advanced north of Orikhovo-Vasylivka (11 km northwest of Bakhmut) and conducted offensives in the Bakhmut direction in the area of Rozdolivka, Zaliznyanske, Paraskoviivka, Berkhivka, Klishchiyivka and Kurdyumivka. According to Russian military bloggers, the Ukrainian Armed Forces advanced near Klishchiyivka and fired along the entire contact line from Yakovlivka to Kurdyumivka. They also reported that the Russian Armed Forces repelled Ukrainian attacks near Vasyukivka and Rozdolivka and near Soledar.
Geolocation footage released on June 28 and June 26 shows that Russian troops have advanced west of Dubove Vasylivka (approximately 6 km northwest of Bakhmut). Russian sources claimed that the Russian Armed Forces had advanced near Berkhivka, while the Ukrainian General Staff reported that the occupiers had conducted unsuccessful offensives near Rozdolivka, Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Bohdanivka and Bila Hora.
Ukraine’s General Staff reported that Russian troops conducted unsuccessful offensives near Avdiivka, Maryinka, Pobeda, and Novomykhailivka. Russian milbloggers reported that the Russian Armed Forces conducted an unsuccessful attack near Pervomaiske and are conducting assaults from Maryinka from captured positions in the Zverinets fortification.
The Russian Armed Forces struck a block and a cafe in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, on the night of June 27.
“Russian sources tried to justify the attack on the city by claiming that Ukrainian commanders were there, although ISW found no evidence to support this claim. Russian troops may have violated international law by launching an indiscriminate attack on civilian infrastructure,” noted the Institute for the Study of War analysts.
Southern axis
Fighting continued in the western part of Donetsk region. The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked in the area of Rivne in the direction of Staromayorske and took up new positions along the Rivne-Staromayorske line and advanced to Pryiutne.
In the western part of Zaporizhzhia region, the Defense Forces continued their offensive and tried to advance along the Pyatikhatka-Zherebryanka line, while Russian Armed Forces units had to repel attacks by Ukrainian troops in this area.
According to Russian sources, the Defense Forces conducted reconnaissance on the left bank of the Dnipro River in the area of Antonivskyi Bridge. The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed that Russian artillery destroyed a Ukrainian subversive group that was trying to land on the eastern bank near Antonivsky Bridge, and also reported that non-Russian aircraft tried to strike Ukrainian positions in the area, but to no avail, as the Ukrainian Armed Forces had deployed S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems there.
On June 27-28, the defense forces shelled the rear areas of Zaporizhzhia region. Explosions were heard near Prymorsk, Kamianka and in occupied Melitopol.
As a reminder, the Ukrainian Defense Forces have been giving the occupiers a hard time in the Tavria sector. The Russian invaders suffered losses of three companies and lost about two dozen vehicles.
Earlier it was reported that the soldiers of the 47th Brigade drove the Russians out of their positions in the Zaporizhzhia sector.
