“Ukrainian Armor is preparing to start mass production of NATO infantry fighting vehicles in Ukraine

The Director General of Ukrainian Armor LLC shared information about the ASCOD armored personnel carrier, which is to be deployed in Ukraine. In a conversation with Radio NV journalists, Vladyslav Bielbas boasted of successful negotiations and an agreement with the General Staff to include these armored vehicles in the plans for test purchases and trials.

Senior officials of the General Staff and the Ministry of Defense, together with Ukrainian Armor specialists, visited the company’s production facilities. Following a meeting that took place later, it was announced that it was advisable to localize ASCOD production in Ukraine, with the subsequent replacement of the combat module and some other components with Ukrainian counterparts.

The CEO emphasized that this approach contributes to the development of the national economy, which is especially important in the context of military operations.

The ASCOD infantry fighting vehicle was developed on the order of NATO armies and has a variety of configurations for different regions, including Europe.

Belbas expressed his admiration for the technical characteristics of ASCOD, noting its superiority over the occupying country’s BMPs. The possibility of joint production of this type of machine is being discussed with the European division of the American corporation General Dynamics and the Eastern European holding Czechoslovak Group.

The ASCOD platform is flexible, allowing the use of various weapon systems, including combat modules, turrets and anti-tank missile systems, etc. It also emphasizes its high level of ballistic and mine protection in accordance with STANAG 4569 standards.

Various weapon systems can be added to the universal ASCOD platform, including:

  • combat modules with 30/40 mm automatic guns of MK 44 Bushmaster type;
  • turrets with 105 mm or 120 mm caliber guns;
  • anti-tank guided missile systems;

Protection features include:

  • compliance with the STANAG 4569 protocol:
  • level 4 for ballistic protection (armor-piercing shot of 14.5 mm caliber);
  • level 4a/4b for mine protection (10 kg of explosive).

These parameters make the ASCOD a highly effective and adaptive combat vehicle capable of countering both ballistic and mine threats. This equipment is in service in countries such as Spain, the United Kingdom, and Austria.
