Ukrainian border guards have closed the border for all men despite the fact that the law on mobilization has not yet been adopted
On December 30, many videos of blocked checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border began to appear online. In particular, Ukrainian border guards stopped letting men with many children and men with disabilities, who are legally allowed to leave and return to Ukraine without hindrance. This caused an increase in queues at the checkpoints and a large number of people’s indignation because there are no legal grounds for such activities of the border guards.
According to border guards at the checkpoints, “there is a different order” from 20:00 on December 29. This was reported, in particular, by Varta1 and Ukrainska Pravda with reference to the State Border Guard Service.
The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine confirmed that, allegedly due to the number of fake documents, they have decided to demand military registration documents from all men, without exception, indicating the period of deferral from mobilization. This was reported by the State Border Guard Service spokesman Andriy Demchenko.
Earlier on Saturday, Demchenko assured in a comment to UP that “there are no changes in the rules of border crossing, but the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine will always thoroughly check the conditions of departure and strictly comply with the law.”
Earlier it was reported that in connection with by the draft law No. 10378 , those who are partially fit for military service will have to undergo a military medical commission again.
Based on its results, limitedly fit persons will either be deregistered because they are considered unfit for service or deemed fit.
However, the law has not yet been adopted in any form. So, the border was closed on the basis of an oral order from one of the top officials.
