Ukrainian electronic warfare systems in Donetsk region interfere with their own drones: “Our own beat their own”

On the Donetsk front, Ukrainian troops have faced an unexpected problem: their own electronic warfare equipment is interfering with the work of drones, making it impossible to repel enemy attacks.

According to Oleksandr Karpiuk (Serge Marko), the commander of the attack drones, Ukrainian electronic warfare systems often hamper the work of Ukrainian UAVs instead of jamming enemy signals. In a number of cases, our drones crash immediately after takeoff due to “friendly” influence, the military complained.

Karpyuk repeatedly stated this problem in 2023, when electronic warfare jammers left infantry without air cover without coordination with UAV operators, but the months since then have not changed the situation.

The reasons for the failures are the inconsistency of electronic warfare and UAVs, coupled with a lack of coordination between operators. As a result, Russian drones are able to fly over the battlefield without any obstacles.

How to fix the situation

  • Establish coordination between electronic warfare and UAVs.
  • Ensure interaction between electronic warfare operators and drone crews.

The situation at the front is tense, and without air support, it will be extremely difficult for Ukrainian troops to repel enemy attacks.
