Ukrainian F-16 pilots to be trained by Lockheed Martin flight instructors
On August 29, Lockheed Martin, the Netherlands, and Romania signed a letter of intent. The document shows that the contractors agreed to establish a pilot training center. Ukrainian pilots will be trained there. This was reported on the website of the Romanian Defense Ministry.
The center will be established at the 86th Air Base. In accordance with the agreement, the Royal Netherlands Air Force will deploy several F-16 fighters. In turn, Lockheed Martin will provide technical support for the center. It will send engineering and technical personnel and flight instructors to Romania to train Ukrainian pilots.
As a reminder, the Netherlands has agreed to provide 42 aircraft to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. They will arrive in Ukraine within six months. Another 19 fighters will be provided by Denmark. The Norwegian authorities will provide 5 to 12 F-16 fighters to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
