Ukrainian farmers have developed a mine trawl for Humvee all-terrain vehicle: rubber rollers can withstand explosions (photo)

Ukrainian farmers have developed a special mine trawl for use by Humvee armored off-road vehicles.

The 1+1 TV channel aired a story about their tests.

The development of a special trawl for the Humvee armored off-road vehicle began after the military asked farmers to help.

Due to the limited weight limits, the specialists had to create a relatively lightweight system that could be mounted in the front of the car.

Six rubber rollers used to detonate mines

The six front rollers are made of rubber and weigh about 80 kg each. According to the developer, the rubber roller is able to withstand a tank mine explosion and continue to function.

During the tests, the rubber roller withstood a TNT grenade with 200 grams of explosives, which is equivalent to an anti-personnel mine.

An additional test with 400 grams of TNT increased the area of damage to the rubber roller, but as the military noted, even in this condition, the roller can continue to be used.

Due to the light weight of the rubber rollers and their easy replacement on the trawl itself, this ensures a high level of maintainability after mine clearance.

Consequences of a 400-gram TNT explosion

The test of a fully mounted trawl on a Humvee armored vehicle with a 500-gram explosive demonstrated the survivability of the structure with slight deformation of the front elements.
