Ukrainian IT company to develop technologies for construction on the Moon
SoftServe, one of the largest Ukrainian IT companies, is joining an international consortium that will develop technological solutions for construction on the Moon as part of the NASA program.
This was reported by the SoftServe press service, Forbes reports.
The consortium is headed by the American Astroport Space Technologies, which won a $1.3 million grant in December 2023 as part of the NASA STTR 2023 Phase II project.
As part of the grant, the consortium will work on developing technologies for the construction of landing sites in extreme conditions and safe landing on the Moon.
SoftServe’s Robotics & Advanced Automation team will be involved in the project.
The task is to model robotic systems for real construction, mechanical interaction and free movement on the lunar surface. The work will start in January 2024.
“As part of this project, we will create models for terra mechanical interaction between equipment, construction machinery, and lunar soil, regolith. Our work will involve creating a large number of digital simulations of the construction process on the Moon, taking into account the features and properties of the soil and various situations,” says Lubomyr Demkiv, Head of Robotics at SoftServe.
