Ukrainian kamikaze drone destroys Russian Starlink (video)
Ukrainian soldiers successfully target Starlink terminals used by the occupiers. The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has announced a hunt for the enemy’s smuggling network.
Ukrainian soldiers destroyed the Starlink satellite communications kit of the Russian occupiers. This was reported by the 71st separate hunting brigade of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on its Facebook page.
Operators of reconnaissance drones of the 71st separate hunting brigade of the Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine spotted a Starlink satellite communications kit at the Russian positions. An FPV drone of the same brigade arrived at its location and destroyed the communication device.
According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Russian occupiers in Ukraine have been using thousands of SpaceX Starlink satellite communication terminals for a long time. The Russian military has been using the Starlink system for a long time and received these terminals through private Russian companies, as they purchased them from intermediaries.
According to Newsweek, one of the ways the Russians acquire Starlink terminals is by buying them from private sellers and connecting them to networks in Poland through NATO proxies. The independent investigative journalism website Important Stories learned about this directly from the sellers in Russia.
According to Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, Russian occupants are using smuggled Starlink terminals purchased in Arab countries in the occupied territories of Ukraine. He emphasizes that this shows that Russians have problems with communication.
According to the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, the cost of a Starlink device for Russians is 200 thousand rubles (83 thousand hryvnias). The information is based on intercepted conversations of the occupiers.
With Starlink, Russians can use long-range air and sea drones. They could also pass off their own weapons as Ukrainian drones.
Ukrainian Special Forces announced a hunt for enemy Starlink in the occupied territories. This was announced on February 12 during a telethon by the representative of the GUR Andriy Yusov.
“Today, Russia is not only the No. 1 terrorist state, but also the No. 1 smuggler state. So yes, this is a problem that is being worked on today,” he said.
