Ukrainians bought a record number of electric cars
In April, Ukrainians purchased 3.3 thousand new and used electric vehicles. This is 300% more than in April last year and 3% more than in March 2023. This number of sales was a new record for electric vehicle sales in Ukraine.
Of the total number of electric cars sold in April, 98.8% were passenger cars, and 1.2% (41 units) were trucks.
Most of the electric cars (48.4%, 1,598 units) were imported from abroad, so imports of used cars continue to be the main source of replenishment of the Ukrainian electric car fleet.
The domestic market accounted for 38.4% of the total number of electric cars sold (1,269 units). 13.1% of cars were bought new (434 units). Thus, after growing for seven months in a row, the share of new electric cars decreased
As of the end of April 2023, the total fleet of electric vehicles registered in Ukraine amounted to 55,267 units (including those deregistered due to culling and exportation abroad): 53,318 cars, 1,944 trucks and 5 buses.
The most popular electric cars
The first place among domestic resales is traditionally held by Nissan Leaf, with a large margin over its closest competitors. In April, as many as 342 sales transactions were concluded for this car. Tesla Model 3 rose to second place (106 transactions), pushing Volkswagen ID.4 to third place (100 units), which has been losing interest month after month. Honda M-NV took the fourth position (89 deals). Volkswagen E-Golf rounds out the top five most popular used electric vehicles in the Ukrainian domestic market (79 transactions).
Just like in the domestic market, Nissan Leaf retained the top spot in the segment of freshly delivered electric vehicles in April (349 units). Tesla Model 3 remains in second place (146 units), and Volkswagen E-Golf moved up from third to fifth place (139 units). Renault Zoe (110 units) moved up to fourth place, pushing Tesla Model Y (109 units) down to fifth place. It is noteworthy that among imported cars, demand for Volkswagen ID.4 is also falling; in April, the model was already ranked sixth in the ranking of the most popular electric cars from abroad.
