Ukrspecsystems modernized Ukrainian reconnaissance drone SHARK, increasing its range to 80 km
The Ukrainian Defense Forces use domestically produced SHARK drones for reconnaissance, surveillance, and fire control. Recently, Ukrspecsystems was able to increase the UAV’s range by a third.
Introduced in 2022, the SHARK has a range of 300 km and can stay in the air for four hours at 75 km/h. The maximum speed of the unmanned aerial vehicle is 130 km/h, and the minimum speed is 60 km/h.
The first version of SHARK could move 60 km away from the control station. As a result of the modernization, Ukrspecsystems specialists were able to increase the communication range by a third. The reconnaissance drone now has a range of 80 km.
SHARK is often used in conjunction with HIMARS. For example, we recently wrote about how a drone was used to destroy the launcher and targeting station of the Buk-M2 anti-aircraft missile system. Two weeks earlier, a Buk-M2 self-propelled launcher was hit.
