Unitree unveils a robotic dog with LiDAR costing from $1600 that can dance and perform flips (video)
A few years ago, Boston Dynamics introduced Spot, a robotic dog worth almost $75,000. Since then, several companies have developed similar robots. One of them is Unitree. It recently announced a device called Go 2, which in its standard version is almost 50 times cheaper than Spot.
Unitree Go 2 is 16″ high, 27″ long and weighs approximately 15 kg. The robotic dog is equipped with a camera, flashlight, and LiDAR. The robot has 12 motors, three for each leg, and can reach a speed of 2.5 m/s.
The company claims that Unitree Go 2 can run for 1-2 hours. For this purpose, the dog received an 8000 mAh battery. It also has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters.
Unitree Go 2 is able to navigate difficult terrain, stones, and stairs. In addition, the company taught the robot to do flips and dance on two legs.
Unitree Go 2 costs $1600. The company also offers a more expensive version with support for an AI-based chatbot, speakers, a microphone, and a 4G modem. The speed has been increased to 3.5 m/s. It costs $2800.
Unitree will also offer an EDU version. This variant of the robotic dog can move at a speed of 5 m/s, perform additional tricks, and is equipped with a 15,000 mAh battery. The price is not specified.
