Updated Ford Transit receives 5G-based technology

The 2024 Ford Transit shown will have a large number of technical and digital features that will facilitate the driver’s work.

Ford Pro, the company’s commercial vehicle division, has announced new 5G connectivity, wireless upgrades and technologies in the 2024 Ford Transit and E-Transit vans.

One of the main advantages is the introduction of 5G connectivity and the emergence of the Ford PowerUp wireless software update system. Both models now come with a 12-inch touchscreen display as standard, and the Connected Navigation system is also available, providing drivers with real-time traffic information. In addition, an eight-inch digital instrument cluster is included.

Drivers will love the automated Delivery Assist technology that recognizes repetitive tasks for delivery drivers. It also puts the van into parking mode, automatically shuts off the engine, activates the hazard warning lights and locks all doors when the driver leaves the vehicle.

The standard safety package now includes collision mitigation with autonomous emergency braking and intelligent speed assist. Ford also offers six additional assistance packages, including blind spot detection with cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control that works in traffic jams, and parking assistance with 360-degree cameras.

The front-wheel-drive Transit can now be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which slightly increases the weight of the vehicle. Modernized wheel hubs make it easier to change the brakes and this reduces the time for changing four disks to two hours.

The order book for the updated Transit and E-Transit will open this summer. However, the manufacturer has not yet decided on the price.
