Verhovna Rada (Ukraine) approves bill on nationalization of property of Russian residents and Ukrainians who publicly deny war
The Verkhovna Rada passed amendments to the law “On the Basic Principles of Compulsory Seizure of Property of the Russian Federation and Its Residents in Ukraine” by 305 votes. Now Russian residents (except for legal entities) considered to be Russian citizens and persons who have the closest ties with Russia, for example, have a residence permit or are engaged in the main activity there.
According to the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, natural or legal persons who publicly deny or support the armed aggression of Ukraine against Ukraine, as well as the temporary occupation of part of the territory of Ukraine may also be equated as residents.
The law will also affect persons who have not stopped or stopped economic (including economic) activities in the territory of the aggressor country during martial law.
Compulsory seizure of assets in Ukraine will be applied to all these residents.
Also, on April 1, the Verkhovna Rada approved many important initiatives against the background of the war, including a bill setting the amount of remuneration for the military equipment of the Russian occupiers voluntarily handed over to the Armed Forces.
